Terms of Service
Effective date: May 19, 2026
These terms describe what CityWage is, how you can use it, and what you can't expect from it. The site is free to read, no account required, and these terms are written to be readable rather than exhaustive.
1. Acceptance of terms
By using citywage.com you agree to these terms. If something here doesn't sit right with you, the simplest fix is to not use the site.
2. Description of service
CityWage publishes cost-of-living estimates and salary figures for US cities, computed from publicly available government data using the 50/30/20 budgeting rule. The figures are estimates, not appraisals or financial advice. They are meant to inform your thinking, not to be the sole basis for any financial, employment, or relocation decision. Make important decisions with input from people and sources that know your specific situation.
3. Data sources and accuracy
Source data comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the US Census Bureau. Each city page shows the date its figures were last refreshed. Government data lags reality, especially in fast-moving housing markets, so a number that was accurate at refresh time may not match what you see on the ground today.
We don't warrant that any figure is accurate, complete, or current. If you spot something that looks wrong, the contact page explains how to send a correction.
4. Intellectual property
The prose, design, analysis, and presentation on CityWage are the property of CityWage. The underlying source data is in the public domain because it's produced by US government agencies. You're welcome to quote individual figures with attribution back to CityWage. Bulk scraping, republishing, or redistributing the computed figures or prose without permission is not allowed.
5. Third-party links and services
CityWage links to government data sources and may include advertising served through Google AdSense. We don't control the content of linked sites or ads, and we aren't responsible for what they do or say. Your interactions with third-party sites or advertisers are between you and those parties.
6. Limitation of liability
CityWage is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the site will be available, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. To the maximum extent allowed by law, CityWage and its operator are not liable for any decision you make based on information on the site, or for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss tied to your use of the site.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version always controls. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated effective date, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute about these terms or the site will be resolved under Washington law.
9. Contact
